How To Build Your Confidence

May 19, 2020

Lots of people feel that they need to reach their goal weight or an ideal body to finally be confident.  However, confidence comes in so many different shapes and sizes.  No matter where you are in your journey, you can dig deep into your soul, embrace your imperfections & choose to love your body right now.  Every body is beautiful, and everybody deserves to be celebrated.  It is important to start building up your self-confidence!

Everyone is a Beginner!

You've gotta start somewhere.  Sometimes it's so easy to forget that all of the trainers, bodybuilders, influencers and instructors were all beginners once too.  You can't compare your Chapter 1 to someone's Chapter 24.  I know it's easier said than done.  However, when you are in the early stages of your fitness journey, take that opportunity to really absorb and learn everything you possibly can.  Also, take everything day by day.  Do not focus on anyone else, look inward and celebrate small victories as you move forward.

Practice, Practice, Practice!

Start by focusing on one skill or goal that you want to achieve.  Make it a priority and practice, practice, practice!  For example, if you want to do a regular push up, start by mastering a modified push-up.  Once you feel like you've mastered 15 modified push-ups, start doing 14 modified and 1 regular. As you continue to practice, start adding more regular push-ups until you're doing all regular push-ups. Before you know it, you'll master the move and feel yourself getting stronger and becoming more confident! You can do anything by practicing and not giving up.

Face your Fears!

It's always easier said than done.  However, you've got to start getting comfortable facing your fears.  If you let your fears hold you back, you are missing out on lots of opportunities along the way.  It can be a slow process.  But once you start tackling your fears, you'll feel proud of what you did and realize that there's nothing that can stop you!

Surround Yourself with Positivity!

Start by focusing your time and energy on people that are going to support you no matter what.  Even find accountability groups on social media to help you reach your fitness goals.  Programs like Facebook or Instagram not only give you endless support, but also a place to ask questions and even learn more about fitness.  The more you know, the more confident you will become.

Respect Yourself!

We are our biggest critics.  When it comes to fitness, it's harder to appreciate our bodies because all we can think is where we want to be.  It is important to spend time each day focusing on at least one thing you genuinely love about yourself.  The more time you spend focusing on all of your wonderful qualities and the great things you're doing for your health, the more they'll start to stick with you.

At the end of the day, all you have is yourself. You can do anything you set your mind too and it's about time you start believing it.

Let's start now!
